Demand Response Summary

Lennox M40 thermostats support automatic demand response capabilities, participating as an OpenADR 2.0b compliant virtual end node (VEN) in the DR process. The M40 thermostat also complies with requirements specified in the California Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24, Part 6 Joint Appendix 5) and Demand Response through Variable Capacity HVAC Systems in Residential and Small Commercial Applications (AHRI Standard 1380 (I-P)-2019). Using the Lennox smartphone app users can enroll their Lennox M40 thermostat in OpenADR services with their Energy Provider. Enrolled users can activate/deactivate participation in DR events at any time. When a user opts to participate in DR events, the M40 thermostat establishes a secure connection to their Energy providers DR server and retrieves/responds to demand response signals. The M40 thermostat automatically adjusts desired control set point (SP) targets to configurable presets or performs curtailment of load corresponding to demand response signals as applic
