- Demand Response Summary
- The S86WMUPR thermostat has the ability to be connected to our Amazon AWS service via a MQTT over TLS connection and through the AWS server communicate with our AprilAire App. Additionally, we have the ability to connect the thermostat to other third-party services such as Google Home and Amazon Alexa via cloud-to-cloud integration. This infrastructure allows us to add features and functionality through over the air updates to our devices and additional integrations with third party services. For these reasons, our current strategy is to proactively develop firmware that will bring the thermostat into compliance with the California Energy Commission Title 24, Part 6 Joint Appendix 5. This will include the ability to configure a response to both price or demand response signals and these responses can be individually configured as either temperature offsets or fixed temperature setpoints. Additionally, we are pursuing opportunities to begin enrolling utility meters to allow AprilAire to bid for demand-based events. Initially, execution of demand events would be done exclusively through our server to the connected thermostats, with a long-term plan to automate the process using Open ADR3.0.
